Hidden Children of the Holocaust
Book talk with author Suzanne Vromen
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
7:30 pm
BJE Jewish Community Library
1835 Ellis Street, San Francisco
It is well documented that many children who survived the Holocaust did so by being hidden. In Belgium, children found sanctuary with other families and schools. However, Roman Catholic convents and orphanages also opened their doors and were vital in the effort to hide and save thousands of Jewish children.
Hidden Children of the Holocaust contains interviews of the children who were hidden, of the women who rescued them, and the nuns who gave them shelter. Professor Vromen will discuss this inspiring chronicle of the brave individuals who risked everything to protect innocent young strangers.
