Hands-on History Workshop
Documenting Oral Histories: Survivors’ Stories
Dr. Anne Grenn Saldinger, Director of the Oral History Project at the Holocaust Center of Northern California, will lead a workshop about the importance of oral history and various resources for oral history research. As part of the workshop, program participants will watch and analyze an oral history video from the San Mateo County Holocaust Testimony Archive housed at the San Mateo County History Museum. The group will develop a summary and index for the video to help researchers find important information on this tape more easily. The lessons learned can be applied to documenting other types of oral histories and using them for research.
Hands-On History is a quarterly workshop series for adults in the Wells Fargo Learning Center. The program is free with admission: $4 for adults, $2 for students and seniors. Programs are free for members of the History Museum. Advance reservations are required since space is limited. For reservations, please contact Katrina Donovan at (650) 299-0104, ext. 31.
